A Bookshop in Paris
A comedy film with hints of melodrama from a European studio. Vincenzo owns a second-hand bookshop in Paris, where he lives with his daughter Albertina, who is confined to a wheelchair after an accident. It’s not often that guests enter their closed world. They are nurses, a young priest, a homeless man, a literary kleptomaniac, and the Neapolitan who delivers Vincenzo’s breakfast. The world of the characters literally opens up when Vincenzo meets the actress Iolanda. The recluse feels happy again.
Sergio Castellitto for a long time worked in the theater and only at the end of his third decade engaged in film. He played in a large number of films and directed one picture himself – the successful drama “Don’t Go”, which received many European film awards.
